Comedian and actor Eddie Izzard is to speak at UWE Bristol as part of a mammoth tour of 31 cities in 31 days urging people to vote to keep Britain in the EU.

Eddie, pictured, will launch his Stand Up For Europe campaign on May 23 to encourage people of all ages across the UK to register and vote to stay part of the European Union. Four days later he will outline his views at UWE’s Exhibition and Conference Centre (ECC).

Eddie Izzard calls himself a proud British European and strongly believes that the country is better off in Europe.

His talk will be followed by a question and answer session and the event is open to all.

In a blog on the Huffington Post website, he said he was “positive and passionate about Europe”.

“I’m doing it because I believe passionately we are about to take the biggest decision of our lifetime.

“It’s no secret that I really want us to stay in the European Union. I already perform my shows in French, German and next will be Spanish. I took my business – comedy that I developed in Britain – and I’m now doing it in three other languages but also in English all across Eastern Europe.

“This is what we can do with our work and our lives if we just dream big and go for it.”

UWE vice-chancellor Steve West said: “I am very pleased that we will be welcoming Eddie Izzard to UWE as part of his Stand up for Europe Campaign.

“We are building up to one of the biggest decisions of our lifetime, one which will have implications for our country and economy for generations to come.”
