Bristol-based consultancy and tech company Techmodal has relaunched its Growth Accelerator Programme to invest and develop innovative ideas in the city’s start-up community.

The programme encourages individuals and pre and early-stage start-ups with an interest in tapping into the defence industry to pitch their ideas with a view to collaborating.

In exchange Techmodal is offering financial investment, collaboration space in its Queen Square office and the opportunity to benefit from the firm’s years of experience as a trusted partner of the government in the defence sector,

The relaunch follows the success of Techmodal’s initial Growth Accelerator Programme last summer. Two start-up businesses, Col 8 and Surface RF, were successful graduates and are now reaping the benefits of their Techmodal collaboration.

Col 8 CEO Charles Smith said: “The financial investment from Techmodal has put us in a strong place. One key thing about defence is that it is a tricky market to enter. Working with Techmodal has given us the access and opportunities needed to solidify our business. We have already submitted a joint bid to the MoD and really excited for the future of this partnership.”

Founded in 2005, Techmodal offers a selection of consulting, cost modelling, analysis and software development capabilities. It specialises in the defence sector having worked with all UK Front Line Commands and DE&S over the past 18 years.
