Two graduate trainees from the Bristol office of accountancy and investment management firm Smith & Williamson have achieved top grades in their chartered accountancy exams.

Thomas Millership and Lucy Fowler were placed first in the Case Study and Business Reporting papers respectively in the West of England Society of Chartered Accountants (WESCA) Advanced Stage Examinations.

Thomas and Lucy were presented with their certificates at the WESCA annual dinner held in Bristol recently.

Thomas, who is now an auditor at Smith & Williamson, said: “Training to be an auditor at Smith & Williamson has given me the opportunity to meet a wide range of clients and gain experience into how different businesses operate while studying to gain my ACA chartered accountancy qualification.

“I was over the moon to pass my final exams. Winning an award definitely added a cherry to the cake and made all the hours of studying worthwhile.”

Lucy, who is also now a qualified auditor at Smith & Williamson, added: “I am really proud of what Tom and I have achieved. We couldn’t have done it without the support from our colleagues at Smith & Williamson.”

The Bristol office of Smith & Williamson has 24 trainees – 19 on its graduate programme and five on apprenticeships.
