Specialist agency Diva has scooped two prestigious national industry awards for work on the launch of Sony Interactive Entertainment UK’s Horizon Zero Dawn videogame.

The Bristol-based lifestyle-centric creative agency – which works in the entertainment, leisure, sport, videogames and fast-moving consumer goods markets – landed the accolades at the Creative Out of Home Awards, run by international magazine The Drum

It topped the Integrated Campaign and Best use of Illustration categories at a grand ceremony at the Emirates Stadium in London last week.

The campaign was also highly commended in a third category and shortlisted by judges for the Grand Prix award.

Diva was asked by Sony Interactive Entertainment UK to help raise UK consumer awareness of the new game for its global launch in March.

The agency developed a series of original out-of-home pieces aimed at helping consumers emotionally connect with the game universe by depicting the game’s female protagonist Aloy in iconic and much-loved locations such as Tower Bridge, Edinburgh Castle, the Liver building in Liverpool and Birmingham’s Bullring.

The campaign was rolled out across geo-targeted social media and digital out-of-home so that consumers would see the locations that were closest and most relevant to their home town.

All were amazingly well received, sparking a frenzy of discussion and interaction across PlayStation’s social channels and wider news networks. The bespoke pieces were also picked up by a number of leading industry publishers and websites, with the likes of Eurogamer – among others – featuring articles showcasing the work.

Diva founder and MD Andy Barnes said: “We are over the moon to have our work recognised and celebrated in this way.

“We’ve always believed in the strength of our work, but we’ve historically been pretty quiet at shouting about it. It’s lovely for the team to be recognised so publicly for the outstanding work that they do.”

Diva employs 15 people and has enduring relationships with the world’s biggest and best-known gaming brands including Sony PlayStation, Call of Duty, Turtle Beach and Skylanders.
