Bristol architecture firm Childs+Sulzmann has promoted associates Matt Parsons and Mike Cox to board-level directorships as part of a wider strategy to structure the business for further growth.

The firm was launched more than 20 years ago and has become one of Bristol’s leading architectural practices, noted particularly for its designs in the creative and workplace environments such as the Watershed, the Arnolfini and the Engine Shed, as well as other iconic Bristol buildings such as Colston Tower, Royal West of England Academy (RWA), Peros Bridge and the Harbourside Pavilion.

Mike has been lead designer on high-profile projects including the Engine Shed, Thornbury Castle and Colston Tower and has a particular expertise in sustainable architecture and interventions to improve the performance of buildings with a particular cultural or historic significance.

Matt was lead designer on the recently completed Colston’s Primary School, recently awarded a Bristol Civic Society award which recognises developments in the city making a positive contribution to the environment through excellence of design.

Design director Nick Childs said: “As founding partners of the business, Peter Sulzmann and I are delighted that Matt and Mike are joining us to drive the business forward into the next phase of development. They are both exceptionally talented architects.”
