National law firm Freeths has marked the first anniversary of its Bristol office by appointing a new director.

Simon Hough, pictured, is an experienced commercial litigation and insolvency lawyer and has joined the office from London firm Blake Morgan, where he worked from nearly two years as legal director.

Prior to that he spent 10 years at Rosling King in the City, where he was a partner dealing with a wide variety of disputes, primarily for corporate clients.

He specialises in claims against directors arising from corporate insolvency, professional negligence recoveries, shareholder disputes and banking and finance litigation.

He has litigated at every level of the court in England and Wales, including the Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal.

He is also an experienced advocate and has appeared on many occasions before the High Court and the County Court in relation to professional negligence claims.

His work often involves an international dimension.

Freeths’ Bristol office on Victoria Street has grown from two lawyers to a team of 17 specialists providing a full range of legal services since it opened in last year.

Partner and office head Adam Watson said: “Over the last 12 months we have seen our Bristol office go from strength to strength, adding talented individuals who are experts in their respective fields. Simon is a fantastic addition to our existing team and will allow us to offer additional services to our growing client base within Bristol and nationally.”

Other recent appointments include Daniel Cuthbert, a partner in property litigation, and real estate partner Duncan Tringham, who both previously worked for Foot Anstey.

Simon Hough added: “I am delighted to be part of a team of such capable lawyers making waves in the Bristol market. We have a great opportunity to build on an excellent first year and kick on to further success. It’s an exciting time.”

Freeths has 12 office across the UK, including in London, Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds.
