Digital agency Nomensa gets onto the gold standard with Investors in People award

Bristol-based strategic digital design agency Nomensa has become one of just 14% of UK businesses to achieve the Investors in People (IiP) Gold Standard award.

Having previously secured Bronze, Nomensa has now reached Gold status after going through several stages of assessment that demonstrated its best employment practices for the support and development of its employees.

In doing so, the pan-European agency, which has offices in Bristol, London and Amsterdam, joins an elite force of British businesses that have, by adhering to IiP standards, gone out of their way to empower the nation’s workforce and benefit the economy.

The agency employs 90 staff – a figure which it expects to increase to 100 by the end of the year.

It works on strategic user experience (UX) projects with organisations such as Virgin Media, Sky, the National Trust, the Royal Mail, the British Red Cross and the NHS as well as other leading brands.

Managing director Sally Lincoln said: “A key component in achieving this is our continual investment in our people and helping to create a place where they enjoy working and feel empowered to progress further within their own careers.

“Providing our workforce with the guidance they need and creating a culture that nurtures wellbeing certainly helps keep our team motivated and aids in achieving success.

“The theory that by investing in the happiness of staff so that they in turn feel more open to proactively contributing towards the success of a business is not a complicated one to initiate, especially with the IiP framework available for guidance.

IiP and similar schemes have a major role to play in retaining the best staff and ultimately contributing to overall growth.

Nomensa, which launched in 2001, also undertakes the Great Place to Work Scorecard survey each year and is also ISO 9001 accredited, displaying significant interest in creating a positive working environment for its employees.

Following a visit to Nomensa, IiP assessor Manjit Sylvester-Jhalli said: “Nomensa is a company that prides itself on having a very professional and client focused approach, and despite employing a relatively small number of people, it consistently demonstrated that it operates at a level far exceeding its size.”

The IiP accreditation was established in 1991 and works to raise the standard for people management worldwide.
