International engineering group Babcock has got on board with bus operator Stagecoach West to make the commute to and from work easier and greener for staff at its North Bristol base.

Stagecoach is providing a special dedicated shuttle services to serve Babcock International office on Bristol Business Park from the beginning of August.

Babcock joins a growing list of Bristol firms and organisations including Amazon, Atkins, Lidl, Tesco and North Bristol NHS to introduce ‘green’ travel policies for their staff.

Stagecoach West runs 15 bus services for businesses with the capacity to take 750 cars off the road each day. Rival First Bus operates similar schemes.

Stagecoach West managing director Rupert Cox said: “We’re really pleased to work with Babcock and help their staff get to and from their new office.

“We already have several fantastic business partnerships around Bristol and South Gloucestershire, and it’s great to be supporting the local community with greener travel options”

“We have an open-door policy with businesses and organisations who would like to talk to us about how we might be able to tailor one of our existing routes to suit their needs.

“If it can be justified, we will even lay on an entirely new service, as in the case of Babcock International.”

From August 5, Stagecoach West will be providing two single-decker buses running a free continuous peak-time shuttle approximately every 15 minutes from Monday to Friday for Babcock staff.

Staff will simply need to show their work identification to the Stagecoach West driver to travel free of charge on the bus company’s network.
