Bristol-based Creative England finance director Mehjabeen Price has been shortlisted in the prestigious Business Finance Awards 2013.

Mehjabeen, who was finance director of South West Screen in Bristol before joining Creative England, is in the running for the UK finance director of the year, public sector and voluntary, award.

She has been instrumental in Creative England’s investment in and support of creative ideas, talent and businesses in film, TV, games and digital media; identifying future opportunities to grow the economy and generate jobs.

She is responsible for all finance and operations at the agency, managing the overall budget and overseeing all planning, financial accounting systems and procedures.

Mehjabeen said: “I am thrilled to have been nominated for this award. It is a testament to the hard work of everyone at Creative England and just being on the shortlist is recognition of the huge steps that my colleagues and I have taken during the past year.”

Mehjabeen started her career at First Women Bank in Pakistan in 1995 and was awarded a scholarship from the Bank of England to complete an MBA at the University of Exeter before working at a private international trading business in London, and later as UK Director for Stakeholder Forum.

In her spare time, Mehjabeen, who lives in Clifton Wood, enjoys keeping fit, cooking, travelling and music.

Creative England chairman John Newbigin said: “Mehjabeen is the dream FD – super-competent, super-efficient, super-flexible and super-charming. Her people skills are as good as her maths. As if that list of qualities wasn’t enough, she seems to be able to stay on top of her workload, however arduous, and is someone of total integrity. She really puts the ‘grit’ into integrity.”

The Business Finance Awards, staged by Accountancy Age magazine, are the leading accolades for UK finance directors, their teams, and their suppliers. To be shortlisted, Mehjabeen had to demonstrate significant financial achievement, enterprise and innovation, integrity, leadership, strategic development, and a high quality of service both internally and externally.

The awards ceremony takes place on March 6 at London’s Millennium Mayfair Hotel.
