North Somerset Council has signed a partnership charter with Scape – a  procurement company controlled by six local authorities in the North and Midlands – and private construction firm Kier.

Under the agreement Kier will act as sole managing contractor to deliver minor works and larger projects worth between £25,000 and £2m.

Kier Construction divisional director Richard Davis said: “Signing the partnering charter is a significant step for Kier as it reinforces our commitment to work with North Somerset Council and the communities it serves.

“The values enshrined in the charter are already central to the way Kier carries out its business and we are looking forward to working with the council to build a really strong and rewarding relationship.”

The council’s head of property and asset management Lyndon Watkins added: "The council has been using Scape national frameworks since 2009 which have enabled us to deliver property services which, in the current economic environment, has ensured we can maintain a sustainable service to the public."
