Bristol City Council has given its backing to a £114m Government funding bid to overhaul Bristol’s transport infrastructure.

The three schemes include a new road in South Bristol linking Hartcliffe Roundabout with the A370 and two “rapid transit” bus routes from Ashton Vale to Temple Meads and from Hengrove to Cribbs Causeway. Councillors want the buses to be powered by hydrogen or biogas.

Bristol is competing against more than 40 schemes across the country – with only enough to pay for half of them. The successful bids will be announced in December.
