Burges Salmon, the Bristol-based national law firm, has been appointed to the legal panel of construction and engineering group Costain for three years.

The firm will provide legal advice across its business including in relation to engineering & construction, insurance, real estate, corporate, IP (intellectual property)/IT/data protection and employment to 2017.

Costain is one of the UK’s leading engineering groups and is involved in a large number of major transportation, energy and water projects across the country.

Burges Salmon’s appointment to the panel, alongside Clyde & Co and Pinsent Masons, reflects the firm’s focus and expertise in the UK infrastructure and natural resources markets.

Costain head of legal Paul Starkey described the panel as “…a very important part of Costain’s professional network and significant energies have gone into maximising its value for all parties over the past seven years.”

Burges Salmon client partner Will Gard, pictured, added: “Costain’s chosen sectors are closely aligned with those in which we operate, which was a key factor in our selection.  We are delighted with the appointment, which significantly enhances our Infrastructure & Projects sector profile, and we very much look forward to working with the Costain team, and building what we hope will become a long-standing client relationship.”
