Members of the Being Brunel Corporate Club and other supporters of the SS Great Britain Trust were thanked for their help in making the new museum a reality with an exclusive after-hours celebration.

The £7.2m museum opened alongside Brunel’s iconic SS Great Britain on Bristol’s Harbourside last month and has already attracted many thousands of visitors.

Exploring the life and legacy of the engineering genius who shaped Bristol, it brings together the world’s most significant collection of Brunel artefacts and insights, many of them on public show for the first time.

The event was supported by Thornbury-based drink firm Bramley & Gage’s 6 O’Clock Gin brand, which has created a limited-edition Brunel Gin, and was a celebration of the local business community’s contribution to Being Brunel.

In particular, it was a thank-you to members of the Being Brunel Corporate Club who have supported the project since it first started to take shape in 2015.

Members of the Being Brunel Corporate Club include Arthur J Gallagher Insurance Brokers, defence giant BAE Systems, The Bristol Port Company, steel firm Hollandia UK, global specialist engineering group Renishaw, SMC Global, Stannah, Bristol’s Wapping Wharf housing and retail development, transatlantic law firm Womble Bond Dickinson and Wessex Water.

SS Great Britain Trust corporate fundraiser Elaine Murray said: “The event was a great success and we were delighted to be joined by all the members of the Being Brunel Corporate Club for a celebration of their amazing contribution to the project.”
