Specialist business advisory firm FRP has promoted Alex Sargeant to director in its 11-strong Bristol team following a period of significant investment in its people and services.

Alex, pictured, left, with Bristol corporate finance partner Mark Naughton, was previously an associate director in the corporate finance team, having joined FRP two years ago.

He has 10 years’ experience working in the South West corporate finance market with PwC and Deloitte and specialises in sell side and buy side corporate finance advisory, primarily for business owners and private equity investors.

Since arriving at FRP Alex has advised on deals including a $9.25m (£7.21m) divestment for Wiltshire-based manufacturer Avon Rubber and the sale of Clevedon-based global water specialists Hydro International.

He also recently supported partner Mark Naughton on the multi-million pound sale of Cornwall-based fishing business W Stevenson and Sons – the owner of one of Europe’s largest beam trawler fishing fleets – to Vistgate (trading as Ocean Fish).

He will continue to work closely alongside Mark and the wider team as they provide support to the region’s businesses and their stakeholders.

Mark Naughton said: “We are a people-focused business that is not only committed to delivering the best quality service to our clients, but continues to invest in and develop the talent within our business.

“The current business landscape can be fluid and complex, which is why we strive to continually improve and strengthen our capability to be an advisory firm of choice be that in corporate finance, debt advisory or restructuring.

“Alex’s promotion is testament to his hard work and continued support of clients and I have no doubt he will continue to play a key role in the next stage of our growth journey.”

Alex added: “There are a wealth of ambitious businesses across the South West and Wales that are looking for support as they implement their growth plans and in my new role I will be focussed on ensuring that our clients continue to receive the best-in-class service they need to help their business succeed.”

FRP provides clients with the full suite of business advisory services including corporate finance, corporate restructuring, forensic services, pensions advisory and debt funding. It now employs more than 350 people across its network of 19 UK offices.
