National law firm Clarke Willmott has promoted Robert Ridd, a corporate and commercial solicitor in its Bristol office, to partner.

Robert, pictured, joined Clarke Willmott in 2010 after stints at firms in the Midlands. He completed his training at Reed Smith in London.

Robert specialises in private limited company acquisitions and disposals, debt and equity fundraising, shareholders’ agreements and joint ventures, along with other corporate vehicles such as limited liability and general partnerships.

He has expertise at all levels of the business cycle from corporate formations to insolvency sales. He has a particular interest in assisting start-up enterprises through early structuring advice and venture capital investments, and in the use of limited liability partnerships.

He also provides advice to all Clarke Willmott’s industry sectors with a particular focus on the renewable energy and sports teams – he assisted the consortium of shareholders behind Bristol Rugby Club in their sale to an entity controlled by Bristol billionaire and Hargreaves Lansdown founder Steve Lansdown.

Robert is one of three new partners at the firm along with Clare Gregory in its Cardiff office and Greg Hughes in Southampton.

Chief Executive Stephen Rosser said: “It is always a pleasure to promote staff and progress their career development, which we are strongly committed to.

“We take great pride in investing time in developing strong relationships with our clients, which you can only successfully do through having an experienced team.

“Ensuring we have the right people with the depth and expertise our clients need, and expect, is a top priority for us, and these promotions reflect that approach.”

Clarke Willmott also has offices inBirmingham, London, Manchester and Taunton.
