Bristol-based building contractor Bray & Slaughter has today appointed Neil Sherreard to its management team on a part-time basis.

Neil will start work this week after spending nearly 25 years at Cowlin Construction, the last 11 as managing director. He was also a director of Balfour Beatty Scottish and Southern following the sale of Cowlin to Balfour Beatty in 2007.

Neil brings a great level of experience and industry knowledge, with a particular focus on the South West regional market.

Bray & Slaughter, a £15m turnover business, has been based in Bristol for more than 100 years and is well known for its ethical and high-quality approach to construction.  In recent years it has focused on the healthcare, education, banking and affordable housing sectors, bringing specialist knowledge and a level of personal service rarely seen in the industry.

Bray & Slaughter has increased market share and continually posted increases in turnover and profitability despite the challenging economic environment. Its ambitions are to take this further by building on its achievements of the past few years, entering new markets and expanding in its existing ones.

Managing director Grant Jefferies said: “The opportunity of knowledge transfer from someone as experienced as Neil is a tremendous opportunity and we are excited at the prospect of having him on board to help us to achieve our ambitious plans for growth and the development of the company.”

Neil, who left Cowlin just last month, added: “Bray & Slaughter are a strong South West company with a great pedigree and an approach to quality that is a pleasure to experience.  Grant and his team have exciting and ambitious growth plans and I am very much looking forward to playing my part in helping them to achieve their aspirations.”
