Community grows at Finzels Reach

The first roots of a new community were put in place at Finzels Reach, Bristol at a supper event organised by Knightstone Housing Association, one of the South West’s biggest providers of affordable and supported housing.

Located on the site of the old Courage brewery, Finzels Reach is a mixed-use development adjacent to the floating harbour and opposite to Castle Park – and Knightstone is managing a number of properties there.

Jane Edmonds Knightstone’s assistant director said: “Getting residents together like this is a great way for people to get to know each other. It also empowers them to get involved locally, driving commitment to build the neighbourhood.”

One initiative the residents want to get involved with is a community growing project in partnership with Castle Park Conservation Group which aims to protect and enhance Castle Park for the enjoyment of Bristol's communities.

Jane added: “It was lovely to see all those who turned up plant their own seeds, it was a symbolic way to launch the coming together of this new community."

Knightstone Housing Association currently owns and manages 11,000 homes across 37 local authorities. It is currently undertaking a series of stock swaps that will mean within three years it will manage more than 10,000 homes in the nine West of England and Somerset local authority areas.
