Facilities management firm Almeda has scooped two awards at the prestigious National Family Business Awards.

Managing director Brady George, pictured, won the Entrepreneur of the Year title while the Keynsham-based company itself received the Big Heart award for improving corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Almeda was recognised in this category for its efforts building towards a more sustainable business and in improving the environment in the local community.

Almeda has gained a strong reputation for being passionate about managing a conscious and sustainable office environment. Staff actively support local stakeholders, communities and environmental projects, and are given free health and exercise classes.

The business and particularly Brady’s efforts in CSR were previously recognised at the 2016 IoD Awards – where he won the corporate social responsibility award.

He said: “Delivering a sustainable and high-quality service to our customers is a number one priority for us. Our employees jump at the chance to get involved with in-house wellbeing schemes and have also put in the time and effort for various community-led projects in and around Bristol

“I’d like to thank every Almeda employee for their endless determination in creating a sustainable and prosperous business model for ourselves and our clients.”

Brady became managing director of family-owned Almeda in 2015, taking over from his father Gary, who set up the business in 2007.

The National Family Business Awards, which were held in London, were previously known as the Red Ribbon Awards. They were rebranded this year to reflect their growing reputation for discovering and recognising the most outstanding family businesses throughout all four corners of the UK.

Almeda recently secured a contract with English Heritage to handle mechanical and engineering maintenance on 23 of its historic sites.

Existing clients include the At-Bristol science education centre, Bristol’s Arnolfini art gallery and Watershed media centre and financial services group Jelf.
