Bristol advertising and marketing agency Sprague Gibbons has celebrated 25 years in business with a celebratory event for more than 130 clients, partners and friends.

Peter Gibbons and David Sprague (now retired) set up the business in 1994, initially as a design agency.

Business boomed in the 2000s as its recruitment advertising arm RAA Sprague Gibbons expanded rapidly. That part of the business was sold off as a separate limited company in 2008.

Today Sprague Gibbons, which is based in Queen Square, continues to operate as a design and marketing agency and is now in a period of regrowth since Peter Gibbons was joined by former RAA Sprague Gibbons client services director Sarah Asprey.

Sarah has helped bring together all the skills and specialisms of the agency and evolve it into a dynamic, full-service marketing agency.

Guests at the celebrations, staged at the Bristol Old Vic, included well-known figures from Bristol’s business community and further afield – among them Avon & Somerset Police and Crime Commissioner Sue Mountstevens, Bristol Chamber of Commerce & Initiative director James Durie,  Stephen Bampfylde, chairman and founder of London-based global executive search consultancy Saxton Bampfylde, Michiel Kramer, European sales & marketing director of Cooper Tire, and Katie Alcott MBE, founder of Bristol clean water charity FRANK Water.

They were entertained by international magician Sieko, a giant Scalextric set – complete with Cooper Tire branding – and the opportunity to have a ‘Rubbish Portrait’ drawn by artist Lucie Sheridan.

Peter Gibbons said: “It was a wonderful evening, to be surrounded by so many friends, including clients who have been with us since day one.

“It’s been a pretty amazing 25 years, made possible by our loyal clients and our fantastic team. It was great to stop for a moment and reflect on what we’ve achieved, as well as look forward to taking the agency even further on its journey.

“No business succeeds over 2.5 decades without the support of lots of different people, not just clients and employees, but suppliers and partner businesses, and it’s all of those people working together that have made our ongoing success possible. We’re grateful to them all.”

Sprague Gibbons has consistently supported various charities and aspiring sportsmen and women over the years, including Bristol Sport, Break the Cycle, the Bloodhound Project, UCI World Masters Track cyclist Kevin Dunn, young racing driver Shanel Drewe and Old Bristolians Rugby Club.

The agency’s main charity partner is FRANK Water and invited founder Katie Alcott MBE to speak about the organisation’s work at the party.

She said: “We are honoured to be SG’s charity partner and were absolutely delighted to celebrate their 25th birthday.

“The silver gala was a great opportunity to share stories of how Peter and his wonderful team at SG have supported our life-saving work over the last year, in front of their partners and clients.
