Global cleaning equipment brand Kärcher has acquired a 7,404 sq ft unit St Phillips Causeway in Bristol – its first retail unit in the UK.

The German-owned firm has taken the building, on a half-acre site, on a sublease until 2026 with a commencing rate of £75,000 per year.

The site was previously occupied by Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles.

This location will be used as a showroom for Kärcher’s vacuum cleaners, pressure washers, scrubber driers and other cleaning products as well as for public demonstrations.

The business hopes to build on its Bristol move by acquiring further units in Newcastle, Chelmsford, Leeds, Nottingham, Leicester and Derby.

Bristol-based chartered surveyors Williams Gunter Hardwick advised Kärcher on the deal.

Robina Cordina of Williams Gunter Hardwick said: “This acquisition takes advantage of a rare opportunity to acquire this well-positioned modern showroom unit in a very busy part of Bristol. We are looking forward to advising Kärcher on the acquisition of many more retail units in the UK.”
