Bristol PR agency Empica is the latest firm to join the Children’s Hospice South West Business Club as it looks for 300 companies across the region to raise a vital £90,000 this year.

The charity launched the club during the worst of the pandemic to help it continue to make a difference to young people with life-limiting illnesses and their families.

While the club’s first meetings had to be held virtually, they still attracted widespread interest as businesses across Bristol continued to support the charity, which celebrated its 30th anniversary last year. Two in-person events have now been staged.

Empica managing director Martin Powell, who founded the Wraxall-based agency in 1989, said: “We are really pleased to support a cause so close to our home and hearts.

“Empica are one of the closest businesses to the Charlton Farm hospice, just a mile away in the same village.

“We are looking forward to coming together with other local businesses to support as many children as we can and we will be encouraging others to join.”

CHSW corporate partnerships fundraiser Amanda Gallagher added: “We are so pleased to welcome Empica to our business club. It is fantastic to see one of the closest businesses to us get involved with our cause.

“For more than 25 years CHSW have been caring for children with life-threatening conditions, making the most of short and precious lives by providing hospice care and family support services.

“The care we offer is also about enriching the lives of the children and families, we are really enjoying working together with local businesses to do this and to support as many children as we can.”

CHSW needs around £11m a year to run its three hospices – including Charlton Farm hospice at Wraxall, near Bristol – around 85% of which is raised through voluntary donations.
