Bristol headquartered national law firm TLT has re-jigged its management team, with real estate head Andrew Glynn becoming its new senior partner and energy & renewables sector leader Maria Connolly taking over as real estate head.
Long-standing senior partner Robert Bourns, pictured, steps down in advance of taking up the role of president of The Law Society next year. He remains a partner in the firm’s employment, pensions and incentives group. 
The management changes will take effect from January 1 next year. Andrew Glynn’s appointment was decided by an all-partner election over the summer. Group and sector heads are managing partner appointments.
Andrew Glynn said: “TLT has changed dramatically since I first took the helm as real estate head. We now compete for people and clients with the very best in the sector, as a growing UK firm.
“But, importantly, we have worked hard to maintain a strong culture with a clear focus on collaborative team working and thinking ahead for our clients. It is this positive approach that I want to push and reinforce as part of my new role as senior partner.”
Maria Connolly added: “We have a great platform to build our real estate offering further. With over 150 lawyers across the UK, we are a real alternative to traditional players in the market.
“I’m looking forward to building on Andrew’s work to develop this part of TLT’s business and deliver market leading real estate services to our clients.”
Managing partner David Pester said TLT was at a critical point in its development as a firm.
“Following several years of rapid UK growth, we must now look to embed new offices and people into the wider TLT business,” he said.
“Andrew and Maria are experienced hands that will provide strong leadership and direction across the business as we continue to develop a UK law firm that challenges the established players for work and people.”
Andrew Glynn trained at TLT legacy firm Lawrence & Co, qualifying in 1985. After seven years working in the City with Rowe and Maw (now Mayer Brown), he returned to TLT, becoming a partner in 1994 and head of real estate in 1999.
Andrew is also co-head of the firm’s public sector team, working with high-profile clients such as the BBC, Metropolitan Police and various London boroughs.
Maria joined TLT as a trainee in 1997, becoming a real estate partner in 2007 and energy & renewables sector team leader in 2010. She is well known for her work on renewables projects with the likes of Ecotricity, The Co-operative Group and Triodos Bank.
TLT reported an 8% rise in turnover to £62.5m for the 2014/15 financial year, breaking the £60m mark for the first time. It also exceeded 100 partners in April after announcing six internal partner promotions. This comes on the back of three years of significant growth with office openings in Belfast and Manchester and a merger in Scotland to secure a presence in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
