Regional accountancy firm Bishop Fleming’s corporate finance and tax teams have chalked up new records on the back of a flurry of deals over the summer.

Despite initial market uncertainties in the aftermath of the Brexit vote, the teams based across the firm’s Bristol and Bath offices have advised on a double-digit number of transactions worth in more than £100m in total.

Among the recent deals were the £17m sale of highways sector technology innovator Simulation Systems to engineering group Costain; the acquisition of Essex firm RDC by Chippenham telecoms business Solar Communications; the private investor backed buy-out of whistle-blowing hotline provider Expolink Europe, also based in Chippenham; the cross-border sale of Bristol-based cloud specialist Applicable by Arkadin; the merger of Bath financial businesses Money Wise and Fidelius; and the sale of Bristol-based personal financial advisory firm Farleigh Group to Wealth at Work, backed by Equistone Private Equity.

Bishop Fleming corporate finance director David Abbott, pictured above, said: “We are delighted to have been instrumental in delivering all of these successful transactions for clients across such a diverse range of sectors.

“Our speciality is to work closely with owner-managers to achieve their goals, irrespective of what their business is. Clearly, there is a degree of uncertainty at present, but we continue to have a very strong pipeline of deals.”

Bishop Fleming transactions tax partner Paul Morris  pictured below, added: “Our recent level of activity underlines the continued success and strength of our corporate finance and tax specialists in the region.

“Our Bristol and Bath offices both have teams in place covering corporate finance and tax. We all work together to deliver the best outcomes for clients wanting to buy, sell, or transform their businesses.”

Bishop Fleming also has offices in Exeter, Plymouth, Torquay, Truro, and Worcester.

It was recently ranked number 33 in the Accountancy Age top 100 UK firms and has been shortlisted in two categories for the British Accountancy Awards – ‘mid-tier firm of the year’ for the second year running and ‘Top 50 Audit Team of the year’.
