The Bristol office of property consultancy Bruton Knowles has added to its growing team with the appointment of James Vowles as building surveyor.

James joins from Somerset County Council, where he was involved with the full range of building surveying services including design and specification, contract administration, surveys, planning and building regulation applications.

He also undertook the design – including planning and building regulations – specification and contract administration of building projects and also has experience in working with both consultant and contractor frameworks.

His arrival broadens further Bruton Knowles Bristol team’s offer

James said: “I’m delighted to join a team that has expert knowledge of the regional market. Bristol and its surrounding area have some fantastic opportunities for growth and I’m looking forward to the challenges of staying one jump ahead of the fast developing market.”

Bristol head of office Paul Matthews said the improving economic outlook and housing market recovery had triggered a surge in demand for qualified surveyors.

“The economic downturn resulted in a chronic shortage of trained building surveyors so we’re delighted to have James on board,” he said.

“The recent recovery has therefore meant a definite need for businesses like ours to have in place the right people in order to cope with the increase in demand for surveying work.”
