Bristol’s top tech talent ready to compete for coveted award at showcase of city’s best start-ups

Sixteen cutting-edge Bristol start-ups will promote their innovative technologies to an audience of influential investors and business leaders at a special event later this month.

Now in its 19th year, Tech-Xpo is the flagship pitch, demo and connect showcase for the University of Bristol’s acclaimed tech incubator SETsquared Bristol

Eleven of the 16 companies are shortlisted to compete on the night for Best Elevator Pitch: Drift Energy, Gritty Talent, Infinifty, myCopilot.ai, Rosa Biotech, RouteZero, Senmag Robotics, Shelf Conscious, Siloton, SoleSense and Wilder Sensing.

The event, on 28 June at Bristol Harbour Hotel, will represent a diverse range of sectors – from Healthtech to Greentech – with a strong focus on tech for good.

An invited audience of more than 200 guests will get the opportunity to meet, collaborate with, or invest in new entrepreneurs driven to change the world.

Among 10 of the start-ups competing for Best Elevator Pitch will be University of Bristol spin-out be Rosa Biotech, which is transforming the patients’ lives with its biosensing platform to detect life-threatening diseases.

Rosa Biotech CTO Arne Scott said: “Following our recent fundraise, Rosa is at an exciting point in its development.

“Tech-Xpo provides the perfect opportunity to share our vision of earlier chronic disease diagnosis with investors, partners and fellow entrepreneurs in the South West and beyond.”

Last year’s Tech-Xpo winner, as voted by the audience, was inclusive marketing AI tool, Inclued, pictured. Previous winners include Ferryx, which makes bacterial products capable of functioning during active disease, and KETS Quantum Security, a world leader in quantum cryptography hardware solutions.

SETsquared Bristol director Kimberley Brook said: “We’re delighted to celebrate a diverse range of innovation and talent at Tech-Xpo 2023.
