Bristol estate agent Doug Wood has been appointed president of the Bristol Property Agents Association (BPAA).
Doug, who launched the Woods Estate Agency in 1992 and now has six branches across the greater Bristol area, takes over from outgoing president Jayne Rixon of Burston Cook.
A firm advocate of the BPAA’s brief to build a positive image of Greater Bristol and promote investment into the city, he now plans to grow the association’s membership by consolidating the existing support and attracting more members from the residential sector.
“The association’s membership is drawn from a large number of businesses involved in all aspects of commercial and residential property and includes surveyors, solicitors, architects, engineers, developers and contractors,” he said.
“I am keen to broaden the association’s appeal and hope through my background and connections to ensure the city’s bustling residential sector achieves the same effective representation as our colleagues from the commercial property sector.”
The BPAA has more than 280 full and affiliated members and Doug is keen to boost membership to reflect the property sector’s significant contribution to the city’s economy.
He added: “The association has an important role to play influencing decisions within, and controls over, our working environment to promote the best business case for commercial and residential property throughout the Bristol area.”
The BPAA Planning Liaison Sub-Committee holds regular meetings with the Local Planning Authority and is an important consultee in all matters of planning policy and development control.
Originally formed in 1946 as the Bristol Auctioneers and Estate Agents Association, the BPAA continues to respond to changing market circumstances and remains the most respected and foremost property voice in Greater Bristol.
