Osborne Clarke was named Large Law Firm of the Year for the second year running at Bristol Law Society’s annual awards on Thursday with Barcan+Kirby claiming the smaller firm title.

DAC Beachcroft consultant Tony Cherry, pictured below, was presented with the President’s Outstanding Achievement Award while Barcan+Kirby made it a double on the night by also winning the Team of the Year award for its clinical negligence team.

The event, at the Bristol City Marriott Hotel, attracted more than 400 guests from the West of England’s legal sector.

The awards were presented by former Bristol Rugby and Scotland international Graeme Beveridge while a collection was made for outgoing Bristol Law Society president Nicholas Lee’s charity of the year, the Barton Camp run by the Bristol Children’s Help Society.

The High Sheriff of Bristol Charles Wyld praised the efforts of 13 Bristol law firms in supporting Feeding Bristol, the organisation that ensures school-age children who receive free meals do not go hungry during the summer holidays.

The firms provided around a sixth of the financial funding and, crucially, two-thirds of the volunteer time for the organisation, allowing it to deliver 53,000 meals to children across the city during five weeks this summer.

Bristol Business News will feature more details and photos of all the winners in its next e-bulletin.
