Lawyers from Bristol firm Burges Salmon have advised private equity firm Gresham on its role in the £25m management buyout (MBO) of digital corporate communications specialist Investis.

Headquartered in London, Investis services more than 1,000 clients across the globe from offices in the UK, Germany, Italy, Finland and India. Its client list includes more than half of the FTSE 100.

Following the MBO, Investis is accelerating the development of new digital products, extending its reach to new customers in new markets and plans to make acquisitions in the UK and internationally.

The Burges Salmon team, which was led by corporate finance partners Mark Shepherd and Richard Spink, pictured, and banking partner Richard Leeming, worked closely Gresham on the deal. Also involved in the transaction were the Bristol offices of Corporate Information Limited (CIL) and insuruer Willis.

Gresham partner Mitch Titley said: “In a world where digital communications are increasingly more complex, Investis helps public companies to communicate effectively through digital media, whether that be via website, apps, social media or mobile applications. It was a pleasure to work with so many of the local Bristol advisors, including Burges Salmon on the investment.”

Burges Salmon’s Mark Shepherd added: “Working alongside Gresham on its investment into such an exciting business has been highly rewarding.

“Together with our international network of independent preferred firms, we were able to field an extensive team across all relevant jurisdictions to work with Gresham in delivering to the demands of this deal. By involving us and other South West-based advisers, Gresham has demonstrated the same commitment that we all have to the South West market and to delivering first-class results, regardless of the location.”

The Burges Salmon team also involved colleagues from across the firm, including Jonathan Eves, Claire Porter-Bryant, Gillian Saunderson, John Manis, Alistair Rattray, Elin Blundell.
