Three of the Bristol area’s most successful firms will go head to head next week in the South West’s most prestigious business competition.

Global financial administration company Computershare Investors Services, Loungers – the business behind the successful café/bar chain – and Chipping Sodbury-based Ian Williams, one of the UK’s leading property services companies, are competing in international accountancy firm PwC’s Business of the Year Awards.

The awards, now in their 28th year, are widely recognised as the region’s most coveted business accolades.

Previous winners read like a who’s who of the South West’s most dynamic business and include Wiltshire-based household appliance giant Dyson and Mitie, the fast-growing Bristol-based outsourcing group.

Computershare Investors Services, headquartered at Bedminster Down, Loungers and Ian Williams will line up against three Cornish firms – Bott, Pendennis Shipyard and St Austell Brewery – in the large business (£30m-plus turnover) category.

In the smaller business category (under £30m turnover) are children’s clothes firm Frugi, from Helston, Cornwall, Devon Air Ambulance from Exeter, Green Gourmet from Stonehouse, and Gloucester-based dental Prima Dental.

The unrivalled awards, which are being staged in association with ITV West and Circle 2 Success, have gained a reputation built firmly on the thoroughness of the judging panel, which is made up of respected business figures from across the region.

Bristol Business News is once again official media partner for the coveted awards, along with its sister titles Swindon Business News and Bath Business News.

The awards will be presented at a gala ceremony at Bristol’s Passenger Shed on Thursday.

Last year’s winner was Swindon-based construction group Beard.
