Bristol-based events and communications agency Brandon Hill Communications has been appointed to stage the UK’s leading space industry event, the UK Space Conference 2015.

The two-day event, held every second year, focuses on how the UK can make an impact in a global market which, according to estimates, could be worth £40bn to the national economy by 2030. Brandon Hill has been appointed by an organising committee led by the UK Space Agency.

The conference, which will be attendeed by around 800 delegates, is regarded as a powerful rallying point for the UK space industry, bringing together industry, academia, end-users, finance providers and relevant Government agencies.

It will also act as a platform to review the Government’s evolving innovation and growth strategy for the space industry, which currently estimated to be worth £12bn to the UK economy. A venue for the event has not yet been confirmed.

UK firms operating in the space industry range from aircraft giant Airbus, which has a major plant at Filton, to specialist software firms such as Chippenham and Bristol-based SciSys, which has its roots in the European Space Agency (ESA).

British space expertise plays a powerful role in most European space programmes, including the Rosetta comet chaser, which was developed and built by Airbus Defence and Space for the ESA. Earlier this month, after flying for more than 10 years and travelling more than 6bn kilometres, Rosetta arrived at its destination, the 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko comet.

Luke Brown, managing director for Brandon Hill’s events division, said: “We are very excited to be appointed as the delivery partner for this crucial event. We look forward to working closely with the event’s organising committee to build a powerful showcase for one of the most exciting areas for academic research and high growth opportunities for the UK economy.”

Brandon Hill Communications works with clients at a strategic level, defining how events can deliver marketing objectives, achieving a serious return on investment. It has worked with high-profile clients such as UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), Palestine Trade Centre and Think London (now London & Partners) on events ranging from conferences and awards to roadshows and product launches.
