Two of the West of England’s largest regional accountancy firms Milsted Langdon and Bishop Fleming, which both have large offices in Bristol, are to battle it out as finalists in a major awards scheme that champions the growth and achievements of practices across the UK.

It is the second year in a row that Milsted Langdon has been shortlisted in the Large Firm of the Year category of the Accounting Excellence Awards.

Bishop Fleming is a former winner of the same award, having triumphed in 2017, the last time it entered.

Despite several nominations in the awards – among the most prestigious in the accounting profession – over previous years, Milsted Langdon has so far not been victorious.

This year’s judges were impressed with the growth at Milsted Langdon, which also has offices in Bath, London, Taunton and Yeovil, and its commitment to its clients, staff, local communities and its dedicated support of businesses in the South West and beyond.

The firm’s entry also highlighted its ambitious expansion plans and how it is overcoming tough challenges within its profession.

Milsted Langdon general practice partner Jon Stocker said being recognised as one of the nation’s leading accountancy firms was a real honour and a reflection of the hard work put in by our team and the level of service they deliver to clients.

“Despite the challenges of recent years, we have continued to develop our services, helping more clients each year with their tax, accounting, finance and business advisory requirements – delivering guidance carefully tailored to their needs,” he added.

Over recent years Milsted Langdon, which employs 22 partners and around 230 staff, has been shortlisted – and gone on to win – numerous awards based on the advice and support it provides to clients as well as its achievements.

Bishop Fleming, which employs 430 people across its network of seven offices stretching from Truro to Worcester, provides payroll, accounting, tax and advisory services to businesses, charities and academies as well as individuals.

The firms will find out whether they have been successful at the Accounting Excellence Awards when the coveted trophies are presented at a ceremony at London’s Tobacco Dock on 8 September.

Standing in their way is the winner of the Large Firm of the Year category for the past two years – London and the South East firm Kreston Reeves – which is shortlisted again this year.
