National planning and development consultancy Lichfields has made a senior appointment in its Bristol office as it continues to invest in additional resources and expand its regional operations.

Phil Marsden, pictured, joins associate director, bringing 15 years’ experience and expertise in both national and regional retail, commercial, industrial and residential work to the role.

He joins from the Bristol office of planning consultancy Planning Potential, where he spent nearly three years as an associate and then associate director. Prior to that he worked at CBRE and Savills.

He joins London-headquartered Lichfields as it continues to celebrate its 60th anniversary by targeting fees this year of around the £25m.

The firm, which offers a broad range of planning and development consultancy services including development management, consultation, economics, Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), heritage, neighbourly matters and urban design, employs more than 230 people across its nine offices.

Phil joins the Bristol team, based in The Quorum on Bond Street, to work on a range of commercial, housing and leisure development projects alongside progressing business development initiatives across the South West.

Among the office’s projects has been the relocation of rugby club Dings Crusaders to a Green Belt site in Lockleaze , where 152 homes were also built.

Phil Marsden said: “I’m really looking forward to taking my career to the next level at Lichfields and being part of a strong and highly professional team.

“I know the region very well, so will be looking to grow my local networks further in the months ahead and broaden my skills and experience working on a wide variety of projects.”

Lichfields senior director and head of the Bristol office, Andrew Cockett, added: “Phil is a great addition to our Bristol team.

“He has excellent experience and will add depth to our services as we continue to grow off the back of a diverse, high quality client base and exciting portfolio of work.”

Lichfields, which operates as an Employee Benefit Trust, is one of the largest planning consultancies in the UK.

Its clients include developers, landowners and operators in the housing, retail, leisure, commercial, waste and recycling and infrastructure sectors, as well as local authorities and government bodies.
