Law firm Bond Dickinson’s Bristol office has advised longstanding client and specialist consumer investor Piper on its £6m deal with Forthglade Foods, the Devon-based natural pet food company.

Forthglade products have been manufactured on the edge of Dartmoor National Park for more than 40 years. The independently owned firm specialises producing nutritionally balanced, high-quality dog and pet food.

Bond Dickinson’s Bristol-based corporate team, led by partner Simon Hewes, pictured, and solicitor Sammy Hill, worked closely with Piper’s regulatory team on the deal.

The team has advised Piper on a wide range of investments over recent years including casual clothing firm Weird Fish, soft drink manufacturer Bottlegreen, Turtle Bay restaurants, Loungers café-bars, Orlebar Brown designer swimwear and Hickory’s Smokehouse.

Simon Hewes said: “We are really seeing the benefit of having worked closely with Piper on its investments for a number of years. Their approach is genuinely different and collaborative, which is a real benefit to investee companies and their management teams, and we are very happy to be working innovatively with them.”

Piper focuses on investments in consumer brands with strong growth potential in retail, leisure, consumer products and consumer services.

Bond Dickinson’s team of corporate finance and banking lawyers advises private equity firms, investee companies, management teams and debt providers on private equity transactions, including growth and development capital, as well as management buyouts.

Forthglade’s shareholders and management team were advised by Clarke Willmott.
