Annual revenues have grown by 7% to £106.4m at national law firm Bond Dickinson, which has an office in Bristol, with profits up 20%.

The figures, for the 2014-15 financial year, cap a strong year for the firm with high-profile panel wins and retentions including Sainsbury’s, AIG UK and The Crown Estate.

The firm’s Bristol office recruited 39 more staff during the year, taking its headcount to 252 and making it one of largest of the firm’s nine offices. Bond Dickinson also employs 185 people in its Plymouth office.

Lawyers from the two offices advised on a number of high-profile transactions during the year, including a£5bn regeneration scheme in Tower Hamlets, London, the sale of Summit Petroleum for $170m on behalf of the Sumitomo Corporation, oil and gas joint ventures in Nigeria and Ghana for Vitol, and a nationally significant infrastructure project, the MetroWest Rail Scheme extension.

The figures propelled Bond Dickinson into 37th place in the table of the UK’s top law firms by turnover and it enjoyed success in the annual legal directories with rankings in 77 sections across the 2015 UK Chambers guide, including eight ‘national leader’ placings, putting it in joint top position of all firms featured in the directory.

The firm has also rose three places to 17th in the Acritas UK Law Firm Brand Index 2015, which is based on interviews with senior corporate counsel and covers factors from awareness to favourability and consideration for major mergers and acquisitions and litigation.

Bond Dickinson Bristol office head Julian Kinsey, pictured, said: “It has been a strong year for us and to increase our business by 7% sets us in good stead for the future. Our offices in the South West have continued to be strong performers and we will continue to invest and grow in the region while increasingly attracting and retaining the blue chip clients that we are well-positioned to service now as a truly national firm.

“We are confident that the next year will see us continue to grow in the right way, by focusing on what matters most to our clients and providing in-depth expertise and outstanding service.”
