National law firm Bond Dickinson, which has an office in Bristol, has become the latest member of the SS Great Britain Trust’s Being Brunel Corporate Club.

Bond Dickinson, whose Bristol office employs 240 people, has joined at the highest ‘founder’ level. The Being Brunel project will open a new national museum alongside the SS Great Britain in February 2018.

Bond Dickinson is on board as the final Corporate Club member, contributing to this important national project that is now fully funded. The National Brunel Collection contains more than 14,000 items, many of which are letters and documents dating back to the 1830s and 40s.

Bristol office head Julian Kinsey said: “Bond Dickinson is delighted to offer its support for the SS Great Britain Trust and Being Brunel.

“This is a huge and exciting project for the region and we’re looking forward to being part of it.

“We are particularly interested in the historic links between Brunel’s work and what we are doing today – for example our significant involvement in the electrification of the mainline to Paddington as part of our reappointment to Network Rail’s panel.

“We are also acting on the MetroWest Phase 1 project to re-open the railway to Portishead.  The decisions taken by Brunel and his contemporaries 150 years ago continue to shape the projects we work on today. Our firm has strong roots in the South West and our Bristol office has grown substantially since opening in 1998 though our commitment to the local market.”

SS Great Britain Trust chief executive Matthew Tanner said: “We’re delighted to welcome Bond Dickinson as a Being Brunel Corporate Founder. Bond Dickinson’s generous support for the project will not only help us to inspire future generations of engineers and innovators, but also to explore Brunel’s persona and legacy in the new museum.”
