A 30-strong team of accountants from regional firm Bishop Fleming have scaled the heights of endurance – and raised more than £22,500 for charity – by climbing a trio of mountain peaks in just 24 hours.

The group, from across the firm including its Bristol office, took part in Three Peaks Challenge, tackling Ben Nevis in Scotland, Scafell Pike in the Lake District and Snowdon in Wales all within a 24-hour time slot.

The firm, with seven offices across the South West and Midlands, is celebrating its centenary year and has pledged to raise £100,000 for a number of charities.

Each team member raised cash for their chosen charity and the total will be added to the firm’s overall fundraising pot, which will then be shared among several charities across the country at the end of the year.

The team travelled more than 2,000 miles from Bishop Fleming’s Exeter office and walked a total of 40km with a climb of more than 3,000 metres.

Bishop Fleming corporate and business services executive Rachael Hatton-Smooker, who helped organise the event, said: “It has been a fantastic event and a terrific way for us to celebrate our centenary year.

“It has been a great opportunity to organise, from the initial idea to watching everyone come in after completing the challenge.

“All who took part, walkers and drivers, have put so much effort in and there has been an amazing sense of team sprit throughout the training and event itself. Taking part in the event as part of Bishop Fleming will be a treasured memory.”

Bishop Fleming audit and payroll partner Will Hanbury said: “The challenge was a perfect fit for our centenary year. It was an opportunity to get a Bishop Fleming team together and raise funds for charity.

“We had fantastic weather, which meant we had some amazing scenery to look at as we hiked up the mountains. It provided a good excuse to have a rest and admire the views.

“A big ‘thank you’ to the volunteer drivers who made it possible for us to undertake the event and to all the people who donated and helped raised more than £22,500 for a number of charities.”
