A 12% increase in turnover to £22.3m has enabled regional accountancy firm Bishop Fleming, which has its largest office in Bristol, to recruit 24 new trainees this month, taking the total to 30 over the past year.

To keep pace with growing demand for its accounting, tax, corporate, restructuring and advisory services to businesses and private wealth advice from clients, the firm has grown its team to more than 330.

The firm, which also has offices in Bath, Exeter, Plymouth, Torquay, Truro and Worcester, is still recruiting as its growth continues.

It has also recently celebrated 12 of its existing staff qualifying as Chartered Accountants.

Bishop Fleming chair Ian Smith said: “Our business growth enables us to continually invest in new talented trainees who will grow with us to become our business advisers of the future. Right from the start, we’re committed to helping them develop a lasting career with an ambitious firm.”

HR director Barbara Wood said despite nervousness and uncertainty over the post-Brexit economy, the firm had enjoyed rapid growth in demand for its services across all sectors.

“While we are still actively recruiting, we also have a strong commitment to developing our own people,” she added.

“The firm continues to innovate to reflect the changing market. In particular, the forthcoming digital tax revolution and big data analytics for audit require us to recruit talented people for the digital market place of the future.”

Bishop Fleming is ranked number 33 in the Accountancy Age list of top 50 accountancy firms in the country, and 42nd in the Sunday Times Top 100 places to work, where it was accredited as an ‘outstanding’ employer.

It has also been shortlisted in the Large Practice category of AccountingWEB’s Practice Excellence Awards.
