Chartered building surveyor Sian Jones, from the Bristol office of commercial property advisory firm Bilfinger GVA, has been shortlisted for the prestigious RICS Matrics Young Surveyor of the Year Awards 2015.

The annual scheme recognises those excelling in their surveying profession and rewards inspirational role models and ambassadors in the land, property and construction sectors.

Sian, pictured, who is competing in the building surveying category, is one of six property professionals from Bilfinger GVA shortlisted for the 12 awards.

RICS Matrics chairman John Baker said: “With an increased number of entries for the Young Surveyor of the Year Awards, the shortlisting exercise was always going to be a challenge. However, no-one expected such a consistently high standard throughout all categories; a testimony to the young talent within the profession.”

Bilfinger GVA HR business partner Eloise Ottewell added: “This is a fantastic result which we are really proud of and clearly demonstrates the significant amount of talent that we have across the company.

“To have as many as six people shortlisted across a variety of regions and categories is an excellent achievement. Huge congratulations to all those that have been nominated and shortlisted for these awards.”

The awards are judged against the key criteria of client satisfaction, exceptional achievement, team player/collaboration, innovation and   ambassador to the profession.

The winners will be announced at a black tie ceremony on November 19 at London’s Lancaster Hotel.
