Bristol-based specialist legal and business services provider Jordans has continued its growth by appointing Mark Craig as associate director.

Mark, pictured, is heading the firm’s recently formed company secretarial centre of excellence.

The move follows Jordans’ acquisition just over a year ago by global corporate services provider Vistra and its relocation to a prestigious new base in the flagship 10 Temple Back office building last September.

Mark is a chartered secretary with extensive experience of listed and regulated firms as well as stakeholder management. He joins Jordans from specialist financial services group Computershare, also based in Bristol, where he was head of product development and, more recently, senior internal auditor.

His previous roles include governance manager with RBS and assistant company secretary at Scottish Power.

He is also a founding member and convener of the ICSA (Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators) Bristol and District Network – a group of governance professionals which regularly meets to discuss the latest developments in corporate governance.

The ICSA champions good governance practices to governance professionals.

Mark said: “With recent governance failures widely reported in the press and greater compliance obligations including GDPR and the Corporate Governance Code on the horizon, there are challenges ahead for companies, large and small and across all industry sectors and those of us responsible for their corporate governance.

“I look forward to helping our client companies meet those challenges head on in my new role.”

The creation of Jordans’ company secretarial centre of excellence formed part of a restructuring programme that marked its relaunch as ‘Jordans, a Vistra company’, designed to take advantage of emerging market opportunities.

Jordans Corporate Services managing director Jason Burgoyne added: “Following the acquisition, we have put in place a number of changes to create a platform from which we can build an enhanced service provision to our clients right across the board.

“Mark’s appointment is the latest milestone in our journey and we are delighted to welcome him to the team.”

Jordans was founded in 1863 and is today made up of four companies – Jordans, Jordans (Scotland), Jordans Corporate Law and Jordans Trust Company. It employs most of its 160 staff in Bristol and also has offices in British Virgin Islands, Cyprus, Seychelles, and Hong Kong.
