Ashfords looks to raise £100,000 for Alzheimer’s Society after selecting it as charity of the year

Alzheimer’s Society has been chosen by South West law firm Ashfords as its charity of the year in a vote by employees. The firm will now hopes to raise £100,000 for the charity until April 2018.

Alzheimer’s Society supports those affected by dementia through both practical and emotional support. It also provides information, invests in world-class research and campaigns to improve public understanding of dementia and the devastating impact it can have.

Ashfords employs more than 500 people in its offices in Bristol, London, Exeter, Taunton, Plymouth and Tiverton.

Its charity committee will be led by employment partner Vanessa James and paralegal Ross Carter.

Vanessa said Alzheimer’s Society made a real difference to people affected by dementia.

“We are looking forward to working with Alzheimer’s Society to help raise as much funds and awareness of the work that the charity provides as possible,” she said.

“We have set ourselves a fundraising target of £100,000, which we have high hopes of exceeding by April 2018 through a number of exciting fundraising initiatives.”

Alzheimer’s Society senior regional corporate partnerships executive, Becky Rowson, said: “As a charity we rely on the generosity of groups, businesses and individuals to help us continue our vital work.

“With the support of Ashfords we can continue to provide information and support, improve care, fund research, and create lasting change for people affected by dementia.”
