Ashfords advisers help major investor tap into £22.5m water sector deal

Law firm Ashfords’ Bristol-based corporate team has advised advanced technology investor Ombu Group on its role in a £22.5m financing for Bluewater Bio International, a provider of water and waste treatment technologies with operations in the UK, Bahrain and China.

The round, believed to represent be one of the largest growth capital finance rounds in the water sector in the past year, was also backed by Hermes GPE Environmental Innovation Fund.

The Ashfords team was led by corporate partner Andrew Betteridge, assisted by Chris Dyson (corporate), Becky Dury (banking) and Garry Mackay (commercial).

Mr Betteridge said: “Bluewater Bio International has recently made considerable international progress and this financing round will provide it with the capital to further expand. We are very pleased that we have been able to use our expertise in the cleantech sector to assist Ombu Group with this exciting transaction.”
