Brightside, the Bristol-based specialist insurance broker, is to manage supermarket giant Asda’s car and home insurance products.

Under the partnership, Brightside will run the service under the Asda Money brand with customers able to buy both insurance products online or over the phone. Brightside’s UK-based call centres will offer telephone support.

Head of Asda Money, Kirsty Ward, said: “At Asda Money we want to deliver quality, straightforward products at great prices and Brightside shares this philosophy. Brightside is lowering prices by reducing fraud and at the same time delivering added value products.”

Brightside chief executive Martyn Holman added: “We are delighted to be working with Asda – like Brightside, Asda is a major player in its industry and has a strong focus on customer service and value for money. We are confident that this partnership will be of long-term benefit to Brightside, Asda and Asda customers.”

The partnership comes less than a week after Brightside launched branded car insurance with high street retailer Debenhams. The firm was launched 11 years ago with two staff and now employs more than 600 people at Aust, near Bristol, and a string of call centres.
