National law firm Clarke Willmott, which has an office in Bristol, has been reappointed onto the legal framework of a major housing group.

Clarke Willmott will assist Orbit, one of the UK’s largest providers of affordable housing, with legal issues including tenancy services, construction and development, property asset management, finance/treasury, human resources, employment, governance and corporate.

The high value reappointment is for five years, with an option to extend for an additional year.

Orbit manages around 46,500 affordable homes in in the Midlands, East and the South East and builds more than 1,000 new affordable homes every year.

Managing director of Clarke Willmott’s property services division and client partner for Orbit, Kary Withers, said: “Having worked with Orbit since 2019, we are delighted to continue to support such a dynamic-thinking organisation.

“Orbit is one of the UK’s leading affordable housing providers and combines a focused commercial outlook with a clear social purpose: ensuring safety and quality standards are met, adapting to new legislation and increasing engagement with its customers.”

Kary, pictured, who is based in Clarke Willmott’s Bristol office, said the reappointment built on the firm’s level of expertise and strong reputation in the social housing sector.

“We are proud to play our part in ensuring Orbit achieves the best outcomes in the future and remains dynamic and performance-focused,” she added.

Clarke Willmott was initially appointed onto Orbit’s legal framework in January 2019. Earlier this year it acted on a deal involving the transfer of 191 shared ownership homes from Orbit Group to Residential Secure Income (ReSI).

The firm’s specialist social housing team is one of the UK’s largest, acting for more than 100 registered providers as well as major frameworks including HALA, CHIC, SEC and ASW.

Clarke Willmott also has offices in Birmingham, Cardiff, London, Manchester, Southampton and Taunton.
