Bristol’s elected deputy mayor and Tory councillor Geoff Gollop has merged his accountancy practice with expanding regional firm Milsted Langdon.

Under the tie up, which completed last Friday, all staff and clients from Geoff Gollop & Co have transferred to Milsted Langdon’s Bristol office at One Redcliff Street, with Cllr Gollop himself joining the firm as a director.

The merger came about after Cllr Gollop, pictured right, a former Lord Mayor of Bristol, was asked to continue in his current role as deputy to elected mayor George Ferguson. Cllr Gollop stood against Mayor Ferguson in the mayoral election last year.

Cllr Gollop launched Geoff Gollop & Co in 2003 after 19 years at the Bristol office of national accountancy firm Kidsons, which had just merged with rival Baker Tilly.

He said of the merger with Milsted Langdon: “I wanted to ensure that my clients continued to receive the same high level of service that they have come to expect, even if I was personally having to devote more time to my civic duties. So I came to the conclusion that merging with a larger firm was the most sensible course of action. I felt that Milsted Langdon held similar views to mine in terms of its personal approach and the quality of service and work provided to clients.

“I am delighted to have joined such a forward-looking firm as Milsted Langdon and am confident that this merger is in the best interest of all my clients.”

Milsted Langdon partner Roger Isaacs, pictured below, added: “We are delighted to welcome Geoff, his team and his clients to the firm. We look forward to meeting his clients in due course and building on the excellent work that Geoff has been doing for them.

“Everyone has been working hard to ensure a seamless transition and it will be very much business as usual for Geoff’s clients, although they will now be able to benefit from the additional skills and expertise that Milsted Langdon offers.”

Milsted Langdon, originally established in 1988, has 17 partners and around 170 staff across its offices in Bristol, Bath, Taunton and Yeovil. It acts for a growing number of owner-managed businesses across the West.
