Bristol-based property consultancy Alder King has appointed Gareth Jackson as a partner in its planning team to help service continuing strong demand for its planning services.

Gareth, pictured, has joined the firm after 10 years in London, most recently as planning director at real estate group Dominvs, where he advised on a wide range of high-profile commercial and residential schemes across the capital and the UK.

He has also worked at GVA and GL Hearn and has a wealth of project experience that will be invaluable in securing consent for Alder King’s clients.

In his new role, Gareth is working closely with partner Simon Fitton, who heads the firm’s planning team, focusing on major development projects across the South West and South Wales.

Simon said: “We are delighted to welcome Gareth to the team. His arrival brings valuable high level experience and resource at a key time.

“Despite the challenges this year has brought, the planning process has continued as normal and we have remained very busy progressing a wide range of applications for clients.”

Gareth, who is a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute, said: “I’m very excited to be progressing my career with Alder King, a practice which is widely acknowledged as the leading property consultancy in the South West, as well as moving to the West Country.”

Alder King’s planning team provides a full spectrum of planning services to private and public sector clients and has particular expertise in residential and mixed-use development, student accommodation and renewable energy.

It recently secured planning permission for the regeneration of a 4.2 ha brownfield site on Silverthorne Lane in Bristol’s Temple Quarter Enterprise Zone.

The scheme is the first to come forward on ‘Silverthorne Island’ and includes major residential and student development, commercial floorspace for the University of Bristol and a new secondary school for the local area.

Alder King employs around 130 people across its offices in Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Gloucester, Swindon, Taunton and Truro.

It has won the Estates Gazette South West Most Active Agent award for 19 consecutive years.
