Upcoming changes to the IR35 rules governing the payment of contractors will come under the microscope at an event hosted by financial and professional services firm Smith & Williamson’s Bristol office next week.

Taking place at the firm’s Portwall Place office on Thursday, February 13, it will be hosted by associate director, business tax, Katherine Colledge.

The seminar will address how the imminent rule changes are expected to operate and will cover:

  • What changes have been reflected in the recently released legislation and the implications for businesses
  • What businesses can do to address weaknesses and risks in their processes
  • Implementation challenges
  • Practical tips for those addressing the impacts.

Katherine, pictured, said: “The upcoming changes to the off-payroll working rules will apply to medium and large organisations in the private sector from April.

“The revised legislation will need to be considered where organisations are engaging with individuals through intermediary personal service companies will shift the responsibility of assessing employment status from the intermediary and onto the end client.

“Businesses should be acting now to ensure they are prepared for the changes that are now just a few weeks away.”

The seminar is from 8am-10am. For further information contact Jessica Thompson on 0117 376 2368 or email bristol-events@smithandwilliamson.com
