Solicitors at law firm Clarke Willmott’s Bristol office have helped bring Rod Stewart to the West Country for a major open-air charity concert next summer.

The veteran singer will appear at Somerset Cricket Club’s Taunton ground as part of his five-night UK tour.

The concert has been organised by Somerset-based St Margaret’s Hospice, which provides care for people who are suffering with life-limiting illnesses and support, advice and respite to their families.

St Margaret’s is one of Clarke Willmott’s nominated charities and the firm raises money for it throughout the year.

Partner Stuart Parker and solicitor Hermione Coutts advised St Margaret’s and its wholly-owned trading subsidiary in contractual agreements to bring Rod Stewart to the County Ground.

More than 14,000 tickets were sold for the event within the first two days.

Mr Parker said: “We are proud of our long association with St Margaret’s Hospice and to have assisted them in bringing about this project. The event has already created a lot of interest in the local area and we are looking forward to seeing the legend that is Rod Stewart play in Somerset for one night only in 2014.”

St Margaret’s chief executive Jon Andrewes added: “To continue to deliver our services, we need to raise in the region of £10m each and every year, which in real terms amounts to needing to achieve a daily fundraising target of £27,400.

“This concert not only helps us meet our targets but is also going create some lasting memories for everyone.”

St Margaret’s Hospice is hopeful that ‘Somerset Rocks’ will become an annual event. The County Ground has staged two successful concerts by Sir Elton John in recent years.

Clarke Willmott has offices in Bristol, Taunton, Birmingham, London, Manchester and Southampton.
