Housing market recovery helps specialist property law firm Hoffman Male create jobs

Expanding West property law firm Hoffman Male is taking on more staff as it starts to benefit from the housing market recovery.

The firm is seeking two conveyancers – one each for its offices in Swindon and Bristol – to help with a growing caseload linked to the higher number of prospective homebuyers entering the market. Government schemes such as Help to Buy are also restoring confidence and encouraging people to get onto the property ladder.

Mary Hoffman, who runs the firm’s Swindon headquarters, said: “Both positions have arisen through business growth.

“There is a definite upturn in the housing market and also in the commercial property sector. We’ve really hit the ground running in Bristol.”

The Bristol office, headed by Yvette Morcombe, opened in June at Aztec West.

Yvette, pictured, added: “Government schemes such as Help to Buy and NewBuy are making a difference, and generally there is more buoyancy in the domestic and commercial property market.”

The latest housing market survey by Nationwide Building Society last week showed prices rose by 0.6% in November to stand 6.5% higher than in the same month last year.

The NewBuy scheme allows people to buy new build properties with a smaller deposit than is normally required. From January, under Help to Buy, this will be extended to all homes.

Hoffman Male, which also specialises in wills and probate, was established in 1979 in Swindon.
