Three regional accountancy firms with bases in Bristol are to go head to head for a prestigious tax award.

Milsted Langdon, Albert Goodman and Hazlewoods are on the five-strong shortlist for the Best Tax Practice in a Regional Firm title at this year’s Tolley’s Taxation Award.

Milsted Langdon, which also has bases in Bath, London, Taunton and Yeovil, is no stranger to the category, having won it in 2016 and being shortlisted four times, including last year when it lost out to North West firm Cowgills.

This year it is up against Albert Goodman, which also has bases in Taunton, Weston-super-Mare, Yeovil and Weymouth, and Hazlewoods, which operates out of Cheltenham and Bristol.

The other two firms in the running are McGills, with offices in Cirencester, Malmesbury and Fairford, and Thames Valley firm Oury Clark.

The prestigious Tolley’s Taxation Awards cover the whole of the tax profession, showcasing the best of the UK’s professional practices of all sizes, specialist and regional firms as well as those working in-house or in the public sector.

The winners of the 20 categories making up the awards will be announced on 16 May at a glittering presentation ceremony at the Hilton London Metropole.

Albert Goodman, which has 300 staff and 21 partners, is also on the seven-strong shortlisted in the Best Team category, which also includes national firms Claritas Tax and Mazars – both with offices in Bristol.

Albert Goodman tax partner Tracey Watts, pictured, said: “Our team has worked really hard to support each other in our whole team’s development, across all offices, and to look after our clients in the best way possible, and are delighted to have their hard work recognised by being short-listed for the Best Team.”

Milsted Langdon, which has 20 partners and 250 employees, advises a diverse range of personal and commercial tax clients, with services from tax planning and return submissions to R&D tax relief, Stamp Duty Land Tax and VAT.

The firm’s specialists manage some of the most complex issues facing the tax landscape, including cryptoassets, property taxes, tax investigations and inheritance tax.

The team has built up an outstanding reputation, and is recognised by its clients as a trusted, forward-thinking accountancy practice that prioritises tax efficiency and bespoke, client-first advisory services.

Milsted Langdon tax partner Rob Chedzoy, pictured, said: “We’re extremely proud of the work that we do and the reputation this has earned us among our clients and within the region.

“We’re thrilled to have been shortlisted for this national award which recognises the very best in the world of tax and we look forward to the awards in May.”
