Commercial building, project and sustainability consultancy Jones Hargreaves has opened an office in Bristol in response to demand for its services in the South West.

The office will be led by Nic Excell, pictured, who has joined as a senior associate partner from the Bristol office of international property agents JLL, where he was an associate for three years.

In a career spanning more than 17 years in the property and engineering sectors, Nic has also worked at Rider Levett Bucknall, AHR and Hyder Consulting.

The firm said he brought extensive knowledge of the Bristol and South West commercial property market along with a wealth of experience in all aspects of commercial real estate, from technical due diligence to large scale project delivery.

Jones Hargreaves has also hired Mike Clements as lead energy and carbon consultant, joining the Bristol team after seven years at Carbon Profile, where he was technical director.

Senior surveyor Joe Way has further supported growth in the South West by relocating to Bristol from the consultancy’s Cardiff office.

Jones Hargreaves said the new hires would bolster the building consultancy and building services engineering teams and work closely with the firm’s in-house sustainability department, alongside head of ESG Huw Davies.

Jones Hargreaves’ move into Bristol follows expansion of its headcount to more than 25 across its offices in Leeds, London, Cardiff and its newly opened base in Manchester.

Nic said: “I’m excited to join Jones Hargreaves to build on our presence in Bristol and expand services across the South West.

“I’ve worked in and around the region throughout my career to date and look forward to supporting our clients to deliver high-quality, sustainable commercial property.

“I’d like to extend a warm welcome to our new team members helping to establish the Bristol office. They have hit the ground running as we respond to demand. It’s a pivotal time in the firm’s growth journey and it’s a privilege to play a part in this.”

Jones Hargreaves was established in 2009 and in its last financial year reported a double-digit percentage revenue increase.

Its services include building consultancy, sustainability consultancy, mechanical and electrical engineering and complex project management.

The firm’s sustainability team is able to scrutinise potential acquisitions, improve the management of existing portfolios and advise on improving energy and carbon performance across all commercial property sectors with a number of ongoing instructions assisting clients to better understand and improve substantiality across their portfolios.

Jones Hargreaves partner Matt Williams, who oversees the South West, London and Wales regions, said: “Opening a Bristol office with Nic at the helm is an exciting step for the business.

“Nic brings with him a wealth of experience and knowledge within our sector and we’re delighted to welcome him alongside Mike and Joe.

“The team are already working on significant projects which will no doubt improve the sustainability and quality of commercial buildings across the South West, and I am confident that clients will highly appreciate the local knowledge the team offers.

“We are an ambitious consultancy firm and pride ourselves on providing consistent, clear and commercial advice for all clients right across the country.”
